The Quality Engineer will oversee the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements. They will conduct quality audits, investigate non-conformances, manage calibration systems, and support the Quality Manager while serving as a backup for key inspection and auditing tasks.

Description

The Quality Engineer:

  • Directs activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products.
  • Reviews design plans, process and test procedures, and quality manuals to understand scope, requirements, and functions.
  • Ensures products meet both organizational and customer quality standards.
  • Provides analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process to support product development or operations teams.
  • Investigates non-conformance's, identifies root causes, and recommends/implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyzes quality data to identify trends and prevent future defects.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and industry standards and regulations in manufacturing processes.
  • Has knowledge of industry and customer-specific manufacturing specifications.
  • Reviews purchase orders to ensure proper flow-down of customer requirements.
  • Initiates first articles, VSE, and customer-specific requirements for new jobs.
  • DSQR and Visual Inspector certification (training provided).
  • Completes characteristic accountability, identifies unaccounted characteristics, and verifies part conformance.
  • Oversees the calibration system for all measuring equipment, gauges, and fixtures.
  • Assists the Quality Manager with third-party, special process, and customer quality system audits.
  • Acts as backup for Lead Inspector and Quality Manager roles.
  • Coordinates the Internal Auditing Program.

Profile

  • Expertise in interpreting customer prints to extract key characteristics for balloon drawings.
  • Proficient in conducting internal audits and maintaining documentation for first article inspections.
  • Experienced in managing and participating in third-party audits, including ISO and AS standards (AS9100, AS13100).
  • Experience working with sheet metals and exotic metals is a huge plus!
  • Skilled in using basic measuring equipment; CMM experience is a valuable asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years of industry experience, supported by a relevant degree.
