Job description

Reporting into the Engineering Manager, my client is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will design fixtures, improve existing drawings, and work hands-on improving and designing machinery.

My client manufacturers products in the industrial manufacturing industry for clients globally. They are a very stable organization that has been in the Kingston, MA area for nearly 25 years.

Description

The main responsibilities for the Mechanical Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop parts and assemblies in SolidWorks for 3D printing, machining, and fabrication.
  • Create detailed technical drawings for machining and fabrication, ensuring accurate critical design tolerances.
  • Oversee sourcing of parts and materials, coordinating with external vendors to meet project deadlines.
  • Utilize rapid prototyping and an iterative design approach to enhance manufacturing processes by analyzing existing equipment and implementing improvements.
  • Participate in the fabrication and assembly of production machines, performing testing and modifying parts as needed. This includes tasks such as drilling, tapping, welding, riveting, bending, grinding, and sandblasting.
  • Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting on existing machinery and facility equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Utilize Salesforce for work management, requisitions, and productivity enhancement.
  • Engage with external vendors for the purchase of new equipment and custom machinery.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's product portfolio and their respective applications.

Profile

The successful Mechanical Engineer will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for designing complex parts and assemblies, as well as creating detailed drawings for machining and fabrication.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of various fastening techniques, materials, pneumatics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on experience in a machine shop or a strong desire to learn; familiarity with operating manual mills and lathes.
