Job Description
Job Title: Head, EHS Audit
Location: Lexington, Massachusetts or Zurich, Switzerland
About the role:
- Lead the development and execution of the global Takeda EHS audit program. Ensure that the program creates value by providing assurance of compliance, risk management and effective management systems.
- Ensures EHS audits are supported in terms of strategic long-range planning, budget planning/tracking, subject matter expertise, audit scoping, audit execution and communication.
- Contributes to maintaining compliance with ISO14000/45001 certification along with continual improvement of the EHS management system, by coordinating external certification body to conduct all required surveillance and certification audits.
- Contribute to EHS strategy deployment and performance improvement initiatives by consolidating audit data, identifying trends and communicating organizational risks.
- Lead and facilitate the global EHS audit program.
- Partner with EHS Management Systems Lead to ensure compliance and maintain Group ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications
- Manage the external third-party registrar and external consultant auditors
- Provide thought leadership for compliance auditing and management systems assessments.
- Communicate the overall strengths and weaknesses of Takeda's EHS programs to appropriate management personnel and stakeholders.
- Ensure the EHS audit program meets the needs of key internal and external stakeholders.
- Responsible for all Audit related activities and aspects.
- Leads long range planning and annual goal setting for EHS Audit
- Supports the Management Review process of the corporate EHS management system
- Reports audit program outcomes to the Risk Ethics and Compliance Committee (RECC) annually
- Provide reporting and trending to cEHS leadership and other technical experts in corporate and in sites, as required.
- Works with cEHS LT, OpU/Region EHS Leaders, Site leaders and other functions to develop communication content as appropriate.
- Provide internal auditor training, as required (e.g. SME's participating in audit program)
- Engage with External Stakeholders:
- Serve as the central point of contact for interfaces with third parties/organizations on the subject of EHS auditing and assessments, such as IAPC, Audit Roundtable, etc.
- Build effective partnerships with external consultants and others to support compliance audit and associated efforts.
Education / Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Science, Business, Finance or related field.
- 10 years experience in EHS, including experience as an audit lead/auditor.
- ISO lead auditor trained.
- Excellent knowledge of EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, PSM, etc.) and technical topics (safety, environment, heath)
- Experience working in global matrixed organization
- Experienced in developing audit programs including strategic communication
- Wide range of knowledge of laws and regulations in USA, EU & Japan.
- Proficient with digital technologies including basic computer apps such as Work, Excel, Teams etc.
- At least 5 years' experience within a highly regulated industry (Biopharmaceutical, Chemical, Refining, Nuclear etc.)
- Certification in auditing: if not currently BEAC or other certification in auditing, must obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
- Expert EHS auditor
- EHS expert with broad understanding of EHS technical programs and how they contribute to achieving risk mitigation.
- Expert understanding of relevant management system standards (ISO14000/45001)
- Broad understanding of international EHS related regulation, including national or regional specificities.
- Project management skills to ensure effective programing and auditing planning
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively.

- Ability to lead, inspire, and direct audit function and teams of EHS and technical professionals.

Travel required 30-40%; domestic and international
In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in facilities, including controlled environments requiring gowning and personal protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body.
Flexibility to engage in work activities outside of the normal 8-hour workday and across time-zones.
Important Considerations

- May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and other clean room garments daily. This may include safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, full body gowns, hair nets and gloves and hearing protection.
- Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment.
- Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
- Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
169 200.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
