About the Role: Aquila is seeking a REMOTE Systems Administrator to join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. A System Administrator will help provide web application and collaboration solutions in support of the organizations technical mission and its day-to-day operations. There are a few requirements for the position: Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify) Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance. (Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.) Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, Massachusetts. What You'll Do: Maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. Develops and designs core operating system builds. Responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains an active directory of users and system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Assesses and resolves user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. Identifies and evaluates vendor products and establishes vendor monitoring and tracking processes. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Recommends appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Serves as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages/downtimes. Responsibilities: • Configure, deploy, and maintain infrastructure supporting organizations digital asset management system. • Configure and customize organizations to meet institutional and stakeholder needs. • Stay up-to-date on organizational procedures/requirements and their impact on the organizations • Continuously monitor the health and integrity of organizations , performing regular audits and making recommendations for improvements. • Provide responsive administrative support, including general use questions as well as help with troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues. • Partner with other key stakeholders such as the organizations Team to maintain, assess, and adjust standards and protocols as necessary for asset ingest, rights management, and metadata entry. • Partner with other key stakeholders such as the organizations Team to oversee organizations user accounts, permissions, and security. Implement security protocols to protect sensitive and proprietary assets, and manage access controls for internal users. • Track statistics around organizations usage/performance and provide reports to key stakeholders. • Contribute to projects in support of systems development, such as metadata cleanup, duplicate assets remediation, and possible future integration of the organizations with other internal systems. • Work closely with organizations technical teams and vendors for system issue escalation and decision-making on functionality enhancements or policy/process modifications. • Promote communication and collaboration amongst stakeholders. • Working knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure and/or AWS What You'll Bring: • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components such as servers, databases, networks, and security protocols. • Skills in monitoring system performance, identifying issues, and troubleshooting application and infrastructure problems. • Knowledge of backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and system availability. • Understanding of databases and SQL queries for data manipulation and integration tasks. • Ability to write scripts (e.g., PowerShell/bash) or knowledge of Python for automation of administrative tasks. • Implementing SSO on an enterprise application. • Remediating vulnerabilities on Enterprise applications and operating systems. • Managing, deploying and administrating applications in Azure Cloud Must Have: 6 years Databases and SQL queries (data manipulation and integration) Bachelor's Degree 6 years Application and infrastructure monitoring (system performance, identifying issues, troubleshooting) 6 years Backup and recovery processes for data integrity and system availability Currently holds a Secret Clearance (OR a higher clearance) 6 years Implementing SSO on an enterprise application 6 years IT infrastructure components (servers, databases, networks, and security protocols) 6 years Vulnerability remediation on Enterprise applications and operating systems. 6 years Python for Automation 6 years Writing Scripts (e.g., PowerShell/bash) 6 years Managing, deploying and administrating applications in Azure Cloud Nice to Have: Metadata operations Taxonomy models Digital asset management application (metadata, taxonomy design & metadata structure development) ITIL Implementation Standards GenAI Change Management Education and Professional Accreditation: • Degree in one of the following disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related technical experience. • Certification(s) in one or more: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); CompTIA Security+ Our interview process is designed to let you get to know us as much as for us to get to know you!
