Job Description
About the role:
This role is responsible for the efficient and reliable operation of Takeda-owned building equipment and associated lab support systems for R&D labs, QC labs, and office buildings. Join Takeda as a Sr Facilities Mechanic - Lab Support where you will be responsible for routine performance of preventative maintenance and repair activities on lab support systems and equipment with the focus on analytical equipment and instrumentation. As part of the Facilities Operations team, you will report to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Job Function and Description
- Routine Preventative Maintenance
- Utilize CMMS to manage the completion of all preventative and corrective maintenance assignments
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are completed within designated timeframe, populating proper documentation per SOP as necessary for extensions
- Report any maintenance failures or issues immediately to management and other responsible parties
- Evaluate equipment performance and make recommendations to maintenance performance or system design
- Seek to continuously improve maintenance practices
- Troubleshoot equipment and make repairs to minimize downtime
- Track repair history of lab support systems and equipment
- Provide lab support for the movement of materials, mounting of equipment, and other general technical assistance as needed
- Develop a list of required spare parts for equipment under responsibility and receive, inventory, and store spare parts
- Utilize applicable software systems for parts ordering
- Solicit and review quotes from contractors and vendors for work assignments or projects
- Provide maintenance and repair support to other Takeda facility sites
- Perform necessary MWRA wastewater rounds and logbook entries
- Conduct rounds in non-GMP buildings
- Maintain all spaces in a clean and orderly fashion
- Works cross-functionally with other groups to accomplish tasks or projects
- Oversight of IFM, subcontracted vendor support, and vendor supply chain
- Individual will be required to troubleshoot and repair a variety of lab support and building systems and equipment
- Must be able to analyze system or equipment failures and present recommendations on equipment performance and design improvements
- Must be capable to think critically and make decisions that impact equipment and system operations as well as compliance status
- Ability to handle emergencies on vital process or lab equipment with minimal or no supervision
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities with laboratory end-users
- Actively interface with validation specialists and engineering activities
- Act as a liaison with facilities management, manufacturing customers, and other trades personnel
- Maintain open channels of communication with contractors and supply vendors
Essential:
- Bachelors Degree in engineering or applicable field
- Demonstrated abilities and/or experience of training in repair, operation, and troubleshooting of electromechanical process equipment and utility systems
- Experience with control systems, PLC's, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (BMS) systems preferred. Familiarity with BMS and process control system (PCS) operation, monitoring, and alarm response
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (PID) and One-Line Diagrams. Proficient with Lock Out Tage Out (LOTO) standard practices
- 5-7 years experience in bio-pharmaceutical, petrochemical, packaging, and power generation industries
- MWRA Wastewater license required

Desired:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of professional and trades personnel including the training and supervision of contractors
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational planning and time management skills
- Technical understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to be able to review and maintain facility related GMP documentation
- General understanding of operation and maintenance of Column Chromatographs, High-Performance Liquid Chromatographs, Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatographs, Bio-Reactors, Lyophilizers/Cryodesiccation Units, Mass Spectrometers, and/or any other associated analytical equipment. Direct knowledge, training, and experience preferred
- Work full time on site variable shifts at all Takeda MA site locations as required
- Incumbent will be required to carry a mobile device and be on-call as required to support operations and participate in off-hour emergency coverage as needed
- Must be able to climb a ladder, reach, bend, and lift loads up to 50lbs
- Should be medically cleared to wear respiratory protection
- Valid Driver's license

U.S. Hourly Wage Range:
$32.64 - $51.30
The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
