Job description

POSITION TITLE: Biomechanical Research Scientist(s). POSITION DUTIES: Responsible for designing, conducting, and properly documenting experiments to test bio-medical products, many of which will be used for regulatory approval purposes. Engage with surgeons, executive management, engineering team, and other external collaborators to develop concepts, build prototypes, and design, implement, and oversee all phases of product development. Design and build biomechanical test fixtures and systems to examine the biomechanical strength of various materials. Translate user needs to develop robust biomechanical product specifications. Prepare and support biomechanical project design reviews. May require to travel/telecommute (5% US domestic travel). EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or related technical field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 36 months experience in job offered, Research Engineer, Research Fellow, or related occupation. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Education or experience must include: 1) Medical Imaging Analysis to determine efficacy of bone adhesive. 2) Computed Tomography 3-Dimensional Volume Analysis to measure volume of bone adhesive delivered in various fractures in clinical and pre-clinical models. 3) Biomechanical Testing Instrumentation Design and Fabrication. 4) Orthopedic Device Performance Testing and Simulation to test biomechanical efficacy of bone adhesives. 5) Finite Element Analysis. 6) Biomechanical Test Fixture Design and Fabrication to simulate physiological loading on different bone and joints. 7) Geometry, Dimensioning, and Tolerancing to produce drawings for fabrication of biomechanical test fixtures.
