Job Title: Sr Spec, Quality Engineer Job Code: 16365 Job Location: Northampton, MA (On-Site) Job Schedule: 1st Shift 9/80 Job Description: The Senior Quality Engineer Specialist leads the execution of Quality activities for medium to large size developmental and production contracts. Develop and implement plans and methods for assigned programs to assure adherence to all contractual quality requirements and company Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures. Essential Functions: Evaluate and disposition customer returns, in-process defects, and address day to day quality concerns. Rapidly implementing containment and corrective actions as applicable.
Support Quality leadership to ensure methodology is applied in a way that supports business performance and true alignment of business goals and objectives.
Effectively communicate across multiple organizations to align a strategic and tactical path to success for manufacturing operations at the site while improving quality.
Support, mentor, and guide cross-functional groups in problem solving efforts confirming root cause identification, generating corrective actions and verification items are implemented and sustained.
Participate in the planning and implementation of the L3Harris Zero Defect Plan program.
Generate and analyze data and metrics to prioritize corrective action and improvement activities.
Participate in and support manufacturing (Gemba) and program status and scrum meetings.
Plan, analyze, survey and control to assure that all applicable quality requirements are adhered to in all phases of a program, from initial proposal through end customer acceptance.
Review new contracts to determine the quality assurance requirements and flow down requirements to the appropriate level. Participate in Engineering design reviews, review engineering drawings for conformance to quality requirements and sign off on approved drawings. Partner with Engineering to identify Critical to Quality (CTQ) test and inspection requirements.
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to implement test and inspection plans and processes.
Partner with Supplier Quality to ensure applicable requirements are flowed down to subcontractors and managed appropriately.
Input into process layouts, build plans, work instructions, and visual aids to assist in continuous improvement efforts for supporting production.
Prepare, or support the preparation of, cost estimates. Act as Cost Account Manager (CAM) for Quality related program labor budgets.
Train and instruct Associate Quality Engineers as to methods, technical requirements, planning, scheduling, costing, and other related matters.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance.
Subject matter expert in advanced problem solving (such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, RCCA).
Leading and supporting FMEAs for process improvement and design.
Ability to work with minimum supervision and direction.
Self-starter, able to pioneer projects, incorporate management's vision, and lead positive change.
Strong proficiency in design reviews, drawing reviews, engineering change order incorporation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong proficiency in MS Office suite.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Qualifications: Requires Bachelor's Degree with six (6) years of prior Quality Engineer experience.
OR Graduate Degree with four (4) years of prior Quality Engineer experience.
OR In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Quality Engineer experience.
Must be a US Citizen. Preferred Additional Skills: CQE and/or other ASQ Certifications.
Active Secret DoD security clearance at time of hire.
Electrical, electro-optical, and mechanical assembly background.
IPC/J-Std and/or Fiber Optic manufacturing background.
Knowledge of ERP systems. (i.e. SAP, Costpoint, Team Center)
Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools.
