In this Sustaining Engineering Manager role you will be responsible for overseeing the continuous improvement, support, and lifecycle management of existing products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve product issues, implement cost-saving measures, and ensure product quality and reliability.

Description

The Sustaining Engineering Manager will report directly into the Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage the Sustaining Engineering team to support existing electronic products through their entire lifecycle.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of product issues related to design, manufacturing, and field performance.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to implement design changes, component substitutions, and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead efforts to improve product reliability, reduce production costs, and extend product life.
  • Work with the supply chain and procurement teams to address component obsolescence, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, and customer service teams to resolve issues related to product performance or field failures.
  • Lead cost reduction projects by identifying and implementing component or process changes that do not compromise product quality.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on technical challenges and career growth.

Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (Masters in Engineering or MBA is a plus)
  • 6-10 years of experience in sustaining engineering
  • 3-5+ years management experience
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement, lean and six sigma tools (greenbelt preferred)
  • Strong background in product lifecycle management
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.
  • Proven experience with root cause analysis, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex projects to successful completion.
