Full-Time (Hybrid - In Office 3 days/week)

The Opportunity


As a Loan Originator of MassMutual Federal Credit Union (MMFCU), you will be a valued member of a supportive, diverse, and skilled team. You will be responsible for creating strong member relationships and fitting borrows to the right products to meet their needs. You will demonstrate a commitment to exceptional member service by having a thorough knowledge of the credit union's loan products and other services. You will be expected to consistently think outside the box and effectively respond to each member's unique situation.

The Team


This team is made up of loan originators, a loan underwriter and loan processors. Reporting directly to the Chief Lending Officer, the team is expected to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with other business units within the organization.

The Impact:

  • Process accurate loan applications from members and potential members by phone, in person and via online portals. Review the information, conduct loan interviews with members, and clearly articulate the information gathered to the underwriter.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in all member communications and data input.
  • Interview loan applicants and provide information on products that best meet their needs. Request, review, and deliver all appropriate documentation to underwriters.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities through meaningful conversations and analysis of credit bureau reports.
  • Maintain a high level of understanding of loan products and features to identify, review, and promote appropriate products and services.
  • Communicate with appraisers, title companies, and other parties involved in the loan process.
  • Follow up on the status of the loan and resolving any issues or delays.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of the borrowers' personal and financial information.
  • Stay updated on the current market trends, loan products, and industry standards.
  • Maintain records and reports of the loan transactions and comply with all the laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Consistently meet or exceed performance expectations in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years consumer lending experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the products and services of the credit union, and the rules and regulations governing the teller operations.
  • Proficiency in the lending systems and platforms, and basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be empathic during member conversations and while conveying loan decisions.
  • Experience in a sales environment.
  • Understanding of credit reports, financial statements, lending concepts, loan documentation, and loan paperwork.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with credit union system terminology and acronyms.
