Big government contractor is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to support our teams in Tewksbury, Massachusetts Onsite. You will work within the Air & Missile Defense Software Department in Tewksbury, Massachusetts as part of the Patriot Software Development Team. Patriot is the world's pre-eminent air defense system, and we are currently developing Patriot training software in support of new system capabilities. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern languages and computing platforms. What You Will Do Participate in the requirements, design, development and testing of real-time embedded software, application software, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems. Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions.
Participate in internal review of software components and systems.
Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering.
Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products. This position requires onsite presence and extensive interaction with other groups including Systems Design engineering and the Software Development Team.
Light travel may be required.
Off hours testing (2nd or 3rd shift) occasionally may also be required. Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of experience.
Experience in developing software using object-oriented C/C++, Java or other object oriented programming language.
Experience in a Unix/Linux operating system. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer
Active Secret security clearance.
Experience designing and developing real-time embedded software.
Experience with Network Communication Protocols, Shell Scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), software development tools like Git/Clearcase, software debuggers, and using embedded RTOSs (e.g. VxWorks, Integrity).
Knowledge of data structures and algorithms, systems software design, operating systems, architectures, software development life cycle and processes.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, including ability to produce technical documentation, and the desire to learn new technologies and tools.
Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably Agile/SCRUM, DevOps and test automation. What We Offer
