Job description

Production Planner for a 6 -month contract which may be extended with our client in Wilmington, MA. This is for the Imaging Division Wilmington; MA is an industry leader in the design and production of space based optical telescopes for small satellites. This business has produced and continues to produce optical systems for many customers in both the commercial and military markets, as well as NASA. One such NASA program supported by this business was New Horizons. Imaging Division Wilmington designed and built the telescope which snapped the first close up pictures of Pluto. There are many other interesting programs that this business has supported and continues supporting!

Pay Rate:
$35 to $40 an hour
What You Need to Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • APICS, Lean, and Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment that includes new product introductions.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory, planning, supply chain, and configuration management

Preferred additional Skills:
  • Experience with ERP implementations and/or Cincom Control and Agile/PDM systems
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment as an ops manager, production planner, or manufacturing engineer
  • Possess strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and communicate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to obtain a secret or top-secret clearance.
What You'll Be Doing:
Summary
  • The Production Planning organization is looking for an individual who can effectively bridge gaps and solve operational problems in the support of meeting customer commitments. In this position, the candidate will coordinate with several internal departments to create and maintain an accurate manufacturing execution plan and help ensure that the manufacturing team gets what they need when they need it. It will be important in this role to manage several internal suppliers and coordinate with several internal customers to understand the requirements, limitations, and problems associated with the manufacturing phase of a development program. It is a fast paced, constantly changing, and challenging role
Essential Functions:
  • Developing and maintaining manufacturing execution schedules throughout the planning and execution phases of the manufacturing process
  • Coordinate with internal suppliers such as Material Management and Design Engineering to ensure material and labor is available to meet internal and external customer commitments.
  • Prioritizing day to day activities of the manufacturing and material flow processes, measure success and failure to the plan, communicate status to program and management.
  • Develop unique solutions to manufacturing problems by working closely with other Operations functions including Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and technical personnel on other programs.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing shared services Manage internal value add/work in process parts.
  • Coordinate with internal suppliers to ensure build documentation meets program and quality requirements.
  • Support timely analysis and implementation on Engineering Change Orders.
  • Utilize ERP data to identify potential schedule and/or data integrity problems along with metric based performance.
