JOIN OUR TEAM AS A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)!
Your Work MattersHow will you make a difference?
The LPN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders.
Assessment
- Accurately collect data needed for the appropriate portion of the integrated assessment.
- Take and record vital signs properly.
- Observe for, and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals.
- Communicate changes in patient's condition to the Charge Nurse.
- Report signs and symptoms of infection in patients to the Charge Nurse.
Treatment Planning
- Maintain awareness of patients' individualized plan of care including goals and interventions.
- Provide information to the Charge Nurse that assists in the development and revision of the treatment plan.
- Document the treatment plan, nursing interventions and the patient's response to the intervention.
Milieu Management
- Provide structure and maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with the patient and other health care providers.
- Monitor patients and their therapeutic environment for changes in acuity and intervenes if needed in a timely fashion.
- Assure patients are adequately oriented to the unit.
- Monitor unit activities and encourages patient participation.
- Act as a role model to promote good health and hygiene skills.
- Report potential crisis situations to the Charge Nurse.
- Consistently utilize universal precautions and environmental safety guidelines.
- Maintain a safe environment by use of room checks.
- Assist in structured didactic groups with patients and families and prescribes, delegates and coordinate nursing care to a group of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Your Experience Matters What we're looking for:
- Education & Licensure (if applicable): Graduate from an accredited professional vocational school of nursing or vocational training as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Licensed to practice vocational/practical nursing from the State Board of Nursing.
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year as a LPN in psychiatric nursing preferred, with six (6) months experience in the specialized area of psychiatry also preferred but not required.
- Additional Skill Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.

Compensation:
