Job description

Jefferson Wells has a direct hire opportunity in the Detroit MI area. Our client is seeking an experienced ( 5+ years minimum ) senior accountant skilled in taxes. You will do tax work in the following practice areas: individual, corporation, partnership. After tax season you will be part of the accounting team, delivering exceptional results to the clients of the firm.
Some details:

• Public firm experience of at least 5 years
• This is 100 % on site, limited client travel

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals and corporations.
• Analyze financial statements and records to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Conduct tax research to stay updated on current tax laws and regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax forecasts and projections.
• Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in tax compliance and reporting.
• Assist in tax audits and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Stay informed about changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Proficient in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
