Founded in 1978, the Hispanic Center of Western Michigans mission is TO EMPOWER THE HISPANIC COMMUNITY TO ACHIEVE EQUITY, SELF-SUFFICIENCY, AND PERSONALIZED PROSPERITY. We achieve this through our four pillars: family support services, youth and education, workforce development and language services.



This position reports to the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan Board of Trustees.



SUMMARY: The Hispanic Center of Western Michigan (HCWM) seeks a visionary leader who will honor the collective wisdom of our community and staff while advancing our mission. The President will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Centers programs, expansion, financial sustainability, operations, and mission execution. This role involves critical collaboration with HCWM staff, stakeholders, and the Board of Trustees in strategic decision-making and operations to enhance quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a thought leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.



RESPONSIBILITIES:


Advocacy



  • Serve as a vocal advocate for our mission and values both within our organization and externally.

  • Advocate for policies that align with our mission and contribute to community welfare.

  • Collaborate effectively with advocacy groups and stakeholders to enhance our organizational impact.

  • Educate and mobilize stakeholders on critical advocacy issues.

  • Stay informed about legislative developments and promptly address those affecting our community.



Leadership



  • Develop and nurture authentic relationships and partnerships.

  • Foster strong connections within the community.

  • Recognize and cultivate staff talent, ensuring their growth and retention.

  • Promote a collaborative and growth-oriented organizational culture.



Management



  • Provide direction and manage operations to move the organization forward.

  • Oversee programs and services to ensure strategic objectives are met.

  • Understand and manage financial statements and nonprofit business finances.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and maintain fiscal integrity.

  • Ensure optimal execution of grant management and development.



Fundraising



  • Identify and pursue opportunities for grants, sponsorships, donations, and events.

  • Set and achieve fundraising goals to support organizational sustainability.

  • Build relationships to enhance development activities and revenue generation.

  • Oversee capital campaign and expansion.
