Plastics Sorter - Day shift

Job description

We are looking for candidates willing to learn and grow within our company. This position will grade, sort, or classify plastic scrap by size, weight, color, or condition. Transfer material to and from the department. May require to occasionally operate a forklift vehicle or pallet jack.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to WMC's quality management system.
• Grade and sort plastic scrap parts according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, and quality to ensure correct processing and usage.
• Discard inferior or defective parts or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in Gaylord containers for further processing.
• Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers.
• Record grade or identification numbers on tags.
• Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure standard quality specifications and requirements.
• Transfer materials, supplies, or products between work areas, using a forklift or manual methods.
• Safety Requirements: Understand and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices. Report all injuries and unsafe work conditions. Attend mandatory safety training and request additional training as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or GED (Minimum)
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to communicate (read & write) in English
• Experience in a manufacturing environment (Required)
• Knowledge of machine functions and ability to troubleshoot (Not required but preferred)
• 1-3 Years of experience operating a forklift. (Highly preferred)

Work Environment

• Plant/manufacturing facility. Not completely temperature controlled
• Exposure to hazards
• Extreme temperatures

Physical Demands

• The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms. May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch. May be required to push or pull up to 60lbs.
