Job description

Torch Technologies, a 100% Employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Lead Unreal Software Developer with experience developing real time virtual simulations. Necessary development skills include C++ in Unreal Engine and development of simulation frameworks that are maintainable and scalable. Candidate must have a strong understanding of network synchronization for large scale simulations. Torch is seeking candidates with these qualities and experience that work well with a multidiscipline team. Candidate will work directly with customers supporting the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC). Candidate must be able to work on-site daily at the Torch Michigan office located in Sterling Heights, MI. Candidate should be trustworthy, dependable, and self-motivated, eager to overcome challenges and solve problems. Previous experience working within a DoD environment is a plus, but not required. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required and must be able to obtain a security clearance. Job Requirements Qualified candidates will have direct experience with the following: Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of Unreal developers. C++ with Unreal Engine, Object Oriented Programming, and memory management. Strong understanding for integrating complex software packages such as networking Unreal Engine with other distributed simulations. Unreal Engine 5 understanding of replication, Blueprints. Experience with source control repositories such as Git and Gitlab. Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one of the following areas: Familiarity with Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality synchronization and UX design. Background and knowledge of Ground Vehicles systems and subsystems and how to develop simulations for digital twins of them. Experience with Varjo base and Microsoft HoloLens 2. Strong understanding of how to perform quality software testing like unit testing. Experience with Agile process development and implementation. Proficient with physics simulation type software packages. Proficient in software development, architectures, frameworks, prototyping and design. Strong understanding of how to quantify and analyze results from Human-in-the-loop simulations. Strong background in developing and understanding Digital Engineering with tools like Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Education and Experience Requirements: B.S or greater in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Game Development, or technical discipline is required. Relevant graduate degrees will be given preference. 5+ years of development experience 1-2 years leading and mentoring other development engineers.
