SUMMARY

Position is part of the Corporate Logistics Team located in Farmington Hills, MI. Responsibility of the team includes, but not limited to, the establishment of the logistics vision, mission, strategies, processes, procedures, training/development and compliance thereof with oversight of our 10 manufacturing plants in North America.

This position involves supporting the Logistic Leads, Packaging Engineers, new launches and projects in production, in all aspects of logistics (routing, supplier sourcing, packaging, continuous improvements, etc.). Ongoing communication with the plants and buy-offs on key logistics documentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Core member of the project teams to ensure smooth launches of programs and launch readiness in SAP and EDI
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound packaging with packaging engineers on assigned programs
  • Ensure cost optimized and secure Inbound/ outbound supply chain settings for new programs
  • Ensure lowest possible inventory for assigned programs including consignment implementation
  • Fulfill deliverables for all logistics requirements of the project
  • Monitor and ensure Material availability in cooperation with Plant and Program Teams
  • Update Project Teams on status of all critical path items / ensure focus and escalation of critical issues
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as situations dictates
  • Keep plant logistics teams informed on program progress and issues - ensure feasibility of logistic settings for plant
  • Support Project Commitment and cost avoidance initiatives for Packaging and Logistic Planning
  • Inbound Packaging Development and support as assigned
  • On-site plant support when required
  • Provide logistics cost studies on development & change management projects
  • Support / lead continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Engineering
  • Experience with all Microsoft office applications preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects in interdisciplinary teams
  • Advanced communication and problem solving skills
  • Strong initiative and cost awareness.
