Job Summary
In collaboration with the Director of Medical Education (DME) and the Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA), plans and manages the professional, financial and operational activities of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Medical Library functions, and is administratively responsible for the Physician Assistants at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital (HVSH). Manages the Medical Affairs function for HVSH.
Ensures that all departmental activities conform to DMC legal requirements and all applicable accreditation guidelines. Develops and implements the programs, policies and activities of the Department of Medical Education for the purpose of developing, promoting, and implementing a comprehensive program of medical education.
Oversees the reporting of all applicable performance measures. Oversees the development of data to facilitate the resident matching program through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).
Actively participates in recruitment and selection of new residency program applicants. Maintains current knowledge of accreditation criteria and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and appropriate reimbursement potential of GME programs.
Oversees development of curriculum and implementation of clinical and didactic experiences for intern and residency training.
Develops, coordinates and maintains a program of evaluation for all components of undergraduate internship and residency training, as well as program and faculty evaluations.
Develops Tier 3 policies and departmental procedures related to management operations and program development in collaboration with Medical Education Advisory Board, DME and VPMA.
Coordinates communication of GME policy and procedures, program development and new accreditation and/or regulatory requirements among Medical Education Advisory Board, HVSH Administration, Medical Specialty personnel, residents and interns. Provides input into development and revision of the GME program, organizational structure and personnel actions, such as hiring firing and discipline.
Measures and assesses performance and ensures timely completion of performance appraisals. Actively participates in leadership activities with the institution. Represents HVSH at various statewide and local committee meetings.
Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Health Care Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Masters degree in Adult Education, Business, Communication or Health Administration preferred.
2. Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in health care administration including implementation of policies and experience with credentialing and graduate medical education/medical affairs programs. Medical Library and leadership experience strongly preferred.
