As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at the new Nystrom Residential Treatment Center in Big Lake, MN, you will be part of team that is helping adult individuals in their substance abuse recovery process by providing a safe, stable environment that is clinically managed by Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors (LADCs), nursing staff, and mental health professionals. Our 54-bed residential facility has been designed to provide Substance Use Disorder and Co-Occurring services to men and women over 18 years of age.

Hours for this position are 3:00 - 11:00 PM with weekends.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high quality care by administering and monitoring medications, treatments, and daily cares
  • Completing technical admission and discharge procedures for patients entering and leaving the unit.
  • Participate as a key member of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans based on the unique needs of each individual.
  • Works under the direction of the Residential Registered Nurse
  • Answers calls for patients with medication in coordination with a patient's Medication Provider
  • Reviews, prioritizes, and returns patient and provider messages, tasks, and voicemails within 24hours in coordination with a patient's Provider.
  • Meets with patients as needed to discuss medication side effects and other concerns.
  • Refills medications as directed by Providers or per policy & procedure.
  • Works with insurance companies as needed for medication authorizations.
  • Calls to request lab results from area clinics and laboratories.
  • Processes incoming medical reports and forms in a timely fashion.
  • Reviews and prioritizes lab results within 24 hours of receipt, transcribes incoming lab results within 48 hours of receipt.
  • Clinical duties including but not limited to: rooming patients, blood pressure, pulse, weight, height and other vital signs of a patient per Providers request and/or per policy & procedure.

Requirements

Requirements include:
  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
  • Possess licensure as a Practical Nurse in Minnesota.
  • Ensure adherence to Nystrom Alcohol and Drug Testing Policy
  • Must have First Aid and CPR Certification on date of hire according to 245G.10 Subd. 5., and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Training or experience in counseling/First Aid preferred.
  • Meet all DHS and SLF program requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image.
  • Must be able to pass DHS Background Check.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds with multiple problems.
