Responsibilities
Oversee and provide appropriate medical and psychiatric services at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, which may include: pain management, detoxification procedures, substance use evaluation, evaluation and treatment of medical and co-occurring disorders. This position includes consultation with physicians and psychiatrists as needed and referral, if appropriate. Provide education, related to medical and psychiatric issues, for patients while in treatment. Participate in the on call duties with other members of the medical team as needed.
Perform admission medical history and physical exams on all patients within 24 hours of admission
- Order and interpret lab tests
- Prescribe noncontrolled medications and controlled substances
- Supervise patients regarding detoxification and other medical issues
- Assess and diagnose mental disorder in individuals referred in order to treat specified mental disorders and provide consultation services to professional staff
- Provides psychiatric medical expertise in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders to ensure that biological aspects of mental disorders are addressed
- Provide information and support to help educate patients, family and staff regarding mental health and medical issues
- Customer relations
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in advanced practice nursing
- 4 plus years of experience
- ARNP license
- Psychiatric/Mental Health NP license
- DEA license
- DEA DATA waiver to prescribe buprenorphine
- PMHNP Board Certification
- Clinical experience in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Certification must be from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior SUD/Detox experience
- First aid certification
- Current driver's license
- Board certification in addiction medicine
