Estimator Job Summary

The Estimator quotes miscellaneous steel, erection and installation processes and services. This individual must have exceptional communication skills, required to effectively manage the long-term relationships we have with our clients. This same individual will be self-motivated.

Company: A company that was started in 2018 to solve a growing issue of quality and consistent miscellaneous metals products is expanding. With the growth of apartment complex construction nation wide, my client has grown from solving his own building issues to being a nation wide distributor of misc metal products for the industry. While they started in Misc Metals, they are laying down the foundations to expand their fabricating capabilities to include structural and architectural metals.

Estimator Required Experience:


  • 2 year experience in Miscellaneous or structural Steel Estimating or Construction
  • Ability to read structural & architectural drawings


  • Software: Bluebeam, Excel

Estimator Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, schedules, and other documentation presented by the client, to accurately prepare and estimate projects. Including alternate and breakdown pricings.
  • Manage Plans, Addenda, Changes, ASI, and RFI Etc.
  • Prepare detail-oriented and accurate estimates & take-offs and estimate prices for any change orders on existing contracts, meeting assigned deadlines. Coordinate with Fabricators for bid date changes and scope review & quantities.
  • Writing of steel erection bid proposals using Microsoft programs Excel, Word, MS Project, and other Estimating programs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret construction drawings, logistics plans, schedules and construction budget information is a must.
  • Participation in project planning and representation of the company in meetings with clients and internal key players.
  • Maintaining contact with clients & tracking potential project leads for future work.
