SummaryCHS has an exciting leadership opportunity in the IT Global Infrastructure Team. We are seeking a Senior Manager, IT Engineering that will lead teams that will drive and deliver modern data and voice network technologies and services to the organization as we modernize and transform the business. The ideal candidate will have experience leading high performing technical teams that support critical communications infrastructure. In addition, this leader must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with both technical as well as non-technical audiences. The Senior Engineering Manager is a servant leader focused on working with the Product Owner to create roadmaps and strategies to deliver on strategic goals and drive the execution of those roadmaps using Agile and Lean practices while actively managing the overall team health of the team and developing team members. This role requires a deep understanding of traditional and cloud-based data network and voice technologies, a passion for servant leadership, and the ability to drive digital transformation initiatives across the organization.
To be considered for this opportunity, qualified candidates must be currently located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area in order to work a hybrid schedule at the corporate headquarters in Inver Grove Heights.
Responsibilities- Create strategies for the modernization and optimization of critical data and voice technologies for the enterprise.
- Establish, advocate, and enforce standards and best practices for infrastructure deployment and management across the organization, ensuring consistency and quality in infrastructure operations.
- Promote and integrate Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Lean, ITIL, and other modern methodologies and frameworks to streamline delivery processes and enhance product quality.
- Lead the engineering teams to ensure adherence to including CHS policies including SOX, PCI, and data privacy considerations.
- Instill a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the engineering team, encouraging the exploration and adoption of best practices in software engineering.
- Engage with product teams and stakeholders to improve applications' performance, availability, and security, ensuring that foundational tools and platforms meet high internal standards.
- Manage recruitment, hiring, and annual review processes for the engineering team, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and team satisfaction.
- Oversee the departmental budget, focusing on technology investments that enhance our capabilities.
- Mentor and develop team members, encouraging them to extend beyond their comfort zones and achieve ambitious objectives while maintaining a high level of team satisfaction.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends and technologies that offer significant benefits to the organization, our business partners, or customers, ensuring CHS remains at the cutting edge.
- Collaborate with architectural teams to maintain and enhance architectural standards.
- Delivery exceptional communication and customer service to stakeholders.
- Coach team members in accountability and thriving in a high-performing product team setting.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent years of work experience, education, and training)
- 5+ years of IT experience to include:
- 4+ years of IT management roles overseeing data and voice infrastructure teams
- Proficient understanding of Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies
- Experience in the design, implementation, and operation of large-scale Enterprise LAN/WAN/Wireless Services, Enterprise Voice Services, and Call Center/Contact Center Services
- Experience in the design, implementation, and operation of cloud-based network services including Azure and Amazon Web Services
- Experience with automation/orchestration platforms such as PowerShell / Ansible / Chef / Terraform
- Expert knowledge of data and voice network technologies
- Experience with creating a shared vision and strategy for an organization
- Experience managing enterprise expense/capital budgets
- Proven ability to influence without authority
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, including risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and compliance with industry standards
- Experience with network security basics, firewalls, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and regulations, such as ISO 27001, NIST, and PCI DSS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
- Experience in managing vendors, contracts, and RFP engagements
- Proven ability to create an atmosphere of mentoring, quality, diversity, collaboration, and continuous improvement by actively coaching product team members
- Experience in hiring, mentoring, and evaluating technical talent.
- Ability to motivate and lead teams towards achieving development goals
- Experience leading through other managers/supervisors
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, best practices in software development, code reviews, source code management, build processes, secure coding standards, testing, and operations.
