Billing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our finance team. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for generating invoices, verifying billing data, and ensuring accuracy in billing for our transportation services. This role is crucial in ensuring timely and accurate invoicing for customers, supporting financial operations, and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

-Generate Invoices: Accurately create and distribute invoices for transportation services based on contracts, services rendered, and rates
-Monitor Billing Processes: Ensure all billing is completed in accordance with customer contracts, agreements, and company policies
-Data Entry: Enter and update billing information in the company's accounting system
-Reconcile Accounts: Ensure accounts receivable balances match invoices and payment records, and assist with month-end reconciliation
-Customer Communication: Collaborate with the customer service team to address billing inquiries and resolve disputes in a timely manner
-Coordinate with Operations: Work closely with the operations team to ensure billing aligns with services provided and any service changes
-Maintain Records: Ensure accurate documentation of billing and invoicing records
-Monitor Aging Reports: Track and manage overdue accounts, send reminders, and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment
-Assist with Audits: Support internal and external audit processes by providing accurate billing documentation and reports
-Reporting: Generate billing and financial reports for management as needed

Qualifications:

- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of billing or accounts receivable experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.

Technical Skills:
- Proficient in accounting and billing software (SAP, Microsoft Excel)
- Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) is a plus
- Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record-keeping
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify billing discrepancies and work towards resolution
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external correspondence
- Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Additional Ideal Skills:
- Knowledge of transportation billing practices, including fuel surcharges, freight charges, and other industry-specific rates
- Experience with electronic data interchange (EDI) invoicing
- Familiarity with transportation regulations and compliance

Work Model:
- This client does operate an in office work model, Monday - Friday.

Compensation:
$49,000 - $56,000/year
