Description: Under the direction of the Administration, the Behavioral Intervention Assistant serves to provide proactive behavior interventions for students with challenging emotional/behavioral, and social concerns. The behavioral intervention assistant also serves as a resource to effectively support the school's Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) framework.

Qualifications:
Required

  • High school diploma
  • Experience working with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs and at-risk students with academic, social, and behavioral concerns

Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs, and social concerns
  • Ability to form strong and positive relationships with students and staff
  • Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to observe, chart, and specifically describe student behaviors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and serve as a school resource
  • Listening, written, and oral communication skills

Essential Duties
  • Coordinates and implements positive behavior interventions for identified students
  • Works with building administration in the implementation of programs with positive and proactive behavior strategies and supports for the school community
  • Serves as a member of the school PBIS team
  • Assists in classrooms to meet individual and group needs as requested by administration
  • Record and track student behavior data
  • Work with teachers, intervention teams, school personnel, families, students, and other agencies to support student success.
  • Record and analyze intervention data
  • Submit records in compliance with district and state guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned.
