Behavioral Technician

Role: Behavior Technician
Status: Full-time
Pay: $19 - $30 hourly (based on experience, education, specialized certifications, and willingness to float to multiple sites)

The Behavior Technician delivers specialized, person-centered behavioral support to individuals with severe challenging behaviors, including those with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD), complex mental health diagnoses, and medical needs. This role involves intensive behavioral intervention, crisis management, and teaching advanced community living skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct support and specialized behavioral interventions for individuals with severe challenging behaviors.
Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and implement complex Behavior Intervention Plans.
Apply advanced Positive Support Strategies and crisis intervention techniques.
Collect and analyze behavioral data to inform treatment decisions.
Manage crisis situations involving severe aggression or self-injurious behaviors.
Implement and monitor sophisticated reinforcement systems (e.g., token economies).
Collaborate with BCBAs and interdisciplinary teams to develop and refine intervention strategies.
Promote community integration and skill development in challenging cases.
Maintain detailed behavioral documentation and progress reports.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals exhibiting severe challenging behaviors.
Education in Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field preferred.
Experience in crisis prevention and intervention techniques (e.g., CPI, MANDT, or similar certifications).
Proven expertise in implementing advanced behavioral support strategies and data-based decision making.
Experience with severe self-injurious behaviors, aggression, and complex cases requiring 2:1 staffing.
Strong skills in Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan development.
Proficiency in various data collection methods and behavioral data analysis.
Thorough understanding of ethical considerations and rights restrictions in behavioral interventions.
In-depth knowledge of MN Statute 245D and regulations applicable to HCBS.
Ability to pass an extensive background check from the MN Department of Human Services.
Valid Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record.
Flexibility to work in various settings and adapt to changing client needs.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and potentially overnight shifts.
