Job description

Duties Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list A FAMILY PROGRAM ASSISTANT, GS-0303-7, Serves as an assistant in accomplishing all objectives of the Family Program, with the ability to work independently and as a team. Conduct staff assistance visits to assess needed equipment, support, and account for current on hand materials. Serve as the Information management officer (IMO) for Family Programs. Strong sense of time organization and urgency to meet mission requirements. Ability to conduct detailed procedures in a time constrained environment. Safely and efficiently performs assigned processes to meet the required daily logistics activities. Collaborates and communicates with supply sergeants, vendors, and others involved in the purchasing and acquisitions of supplies and material. Accounts for the receipt of products for quality assurance. Assists in the preparation of budget requirements to support the Family Program. Initiates Invitational Travel Orders (ITOs) for volunteers, when necessary. Assists in maintenance of non-appropriated and appropriated fund volunteer reimbursement program. Assists with the establishment, staffing, and equipping of Family Assistance Centers (FACs), when necessary. Initiates order purchases with appropriate budgetary and legal approvals then tracks, traces, and updates the status of shipments to ensure receipt within a timely manner. Quick learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, maintain focus, and adapt to a variety of challenges. Interfaces with staff on event coordination and supply needs. Compiles information, publishes, and disseminates Family Program newsletters. Develops and maintains a library of resources and documents for content and knowledge management purposes. Implements and maintains a computer entry system for ease of retrieval and dissemination of content. Provides technical assistance to personnel publicizing Family Program and quality of life issues. Conducts briefings and training for staff to provide necessary information and to stimulate interest and support. Prepares information for schedules of events, missions, roles, and functions of the National Guard. Assists in planning and coordinating resources for family assistance at mobilization. Assists with the state family youth program, which addresses issues and concerns of youth related to Guard life and youth readiness and wellbeing. Coordinates with local youth related organizations and agencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Minnesota National Guard Membership is required. if you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. Applicants who are not currently a member of the MN National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. Most MNNG position are covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Ability to successfully complete Fiscal law training. This is not a remote work position. Ability to work with youth and vulnerable adults. Ability to sit, stand, walk and lift 40 lbs. Must have an unrestricted government issued class D drivers license. MILITARY COMPATIBILITY: Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access. Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility. The individual selected must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota Army National Guard. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. MILITARY GRADES : OFFICER, WARRANT OFFICER, ENLISTED Failure to obtain a compatible MOS may result in termination of employment. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS :GS-07 - Must have at least 12 months experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws. Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions. Experience working independently and setting priorities with little supervisory control. Administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position. Experience using computer and automation systems. Most qualified: 1. College degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Management, Information Technology Systems, or other related field 2. Logistical experience, preferably with, coordinating community resources, movement of supplies to remote worksites, coordination of volunteers for large scale resource distribution 3. Event planning, coordination, execution of large scale events (more than 50 attendees) 4. Experience driving a Class D truck and trailer 5. Experience with government purchasing 6. Defense Travel System Administrator/Approver/Reviewer Well Qualified: 1. Previous experience with Family Programs or a subset of Family Programs (R3SP, CASOPS, TAA, MFH, IPP, etc) 2. Previous volunteer experience with a Soldier Family Readiness Group (SFRG), Key Partner/Spouse Group, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon (BTYR) or other military connected volunteer group. 3. Content management, knowledge management, and/or Information Management Officer (IMO) 4. Experience with Defense Travel System. 5. Familiarization with government purchasing. 6. Fiscal law training completion. Education EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree in related field preferred. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position. Additional information REMARKS : No PCS available.
