Job description

Individualized Home Support Specialist (IHSS) - St. Paul
BrightPath LLC
Pay Rate: $19 - $25 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Are you someone who enjoys helping others maintain independence while providing patient, thoughtful support? BrightPath LLC is looking for a Compassionate, Reliable, and Patient Individualized Home Support Specialist (IHSS) to assist a client in St. Paul every other weekend. This role is perfect for someone who values meaningful connections and is ready to bring structure and support to someone's day-to-day life.

About the Role
In this position, you will be supporting an individual who loves 80's music and enjoys running errands. You'll be there to provide companionship and support while helping them stay organized and on track with their daily activities. They appreciate someone who understands the importance of routine, particularly the need for punctuality, as being late can be distressing for them.

This person can be direct and may express their needs strongly at times. Your ability to set firm but caring boundaries, while offering steady and patient support, will be key to building a positive relationship. They also have a beloved cat, so comfort around animals is important. This role allows you to build trust and help the individual live more independently, with a focus on their personal preferences and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with transportation and run errands while offering friendly companionship
  • Help the individual maintain structure by arriving on time and keeping to the schedule
  • Support their interests, such as listening to 80's music during outings or while organizing tasks
  • Create a calm, understanding environment while managing occasional outbursts with patience
  • Help the individual maintain boundaries and routines, providing consistency in your support
  • Be comfortable around their cat, who is an important part of their life

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Experience working with individuals who may have mental health challenges or unique communication styles
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on patience and understanding
  • Punctuality is essential
  • Comfortable working in a home with a cat

Why Choose BrightPath?

  • Flexible weekend hours, ideal for supplemental income
  • An opportunity to build a meaningful connection while supporting someone's independence
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support from a team that values person-centered care
  • Competitive pay rates based on experience and qualifications
  • Opportunities for career growth and professional development

Benefits

  • Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST): Accrue 1 hour for every 30 hours worked
  • Mileage reimbursement for work-related travel
  • A supportive and positive team environment

If you're someone who values making a real difference in someone's life by providing thoughtful, person-centered support, we'd love to hear from you! Join the BrightPath team and help create a positive, empowering environment for someone who truly needs your support.
