POSITION TYPE: Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Receiving managers take in supplies and other items shipped to the location. They are strong leaders who oversee receiving department staff and operations. Your hands-on leadership and management expertise will allow our organization to grow. This job is composed of a variety of tasks that are covered by general operating procedures but will also require extensive individual judgment to ensure successful operation of your area of the store.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive incoming shipments
- One of the most important responsibilities for receiving managers is to oversee incoming items that arrive at their facility. They review purchase orders and match shipped items to those that were ordered, note any discrepancies, document items received, and update inventory databases.
- Organize and Maintain Stock
- Once shipments have been received and logged, it is up to receiving managers to ensure that all items are properly tagged, labeled, and stored safely within the warehouse. They will supervise receiving teams to operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move supplies and place them on shelving or stack them properly as required.
- Review receiving processes
- Periodically review receiving processes to make sure that operations are running smoothly and efficiently. They will update any changes to receiving processes and retrain receiving personnel as needed.
- Ensure Safe Warehouse Operations and Supply Storage
- Safety is a main priority for any business, and it is up to receiving managers to oversee the implementation of safety practices and processes within a warehouse. They make sure that all safety procedures comply with state and federal regulations, post safety information for employee review, train employees in safety methods, and maintain a neat and orderly environment.
- Be familiar with and enforce all policies and procedures
- Oversee assigned area through effective delegation and management of work, team members' time, and resources
- May operate forklift or industrial truck to assist in loading, unloading, or moving merchandise and materials
- Additional duties, as assigned
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of receiving experience
- Understand and calculate basic math and possess basic computer and data entry skills
- Management experience is preferred
- Flexibility to work any open store hours
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Highly motivated leader capable of motivating others to achieve company goals
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Must possess strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to:
- Multi-task, coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
- Effectively communicate in-person and over the phone
- Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position
- Prioritize, accurately multi-task, adhere to deadlines, and learn in a fast-paced environment.
