Job description

The University of Missouri for School of Medicine is seeking a Perinatal Psychiatrist to join our team. We offer flexibility for candidates seeking a range of opportunities to include part-time, dedicated outpatient focus and protected time for funded research programs.

Our unique opportunity provides practice variety including:

Serving as lead on a statewide initiative called the Maternal Health Access Project approximately 50% of time each week:

  • Maternal Health Access Project: The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) is working with the University of Missouri Health System to develop and implement a hub-and-spoke model to provide expertise to rural and underserved areas by improving care for mothers and babies, particularly those at high risk. A few highlights:
  • Real-time phone consultation with providers across the state through virtual consultations
  • Patient referral to community services
  • Access to ongoing training and education for rural healthcare providers and providers without this specialized expertise
Collaborating with our Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to grow Perinatal Psychiatric care approximately 30% of time each week:
  • Our Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides services including general Ob-Gyn, maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, fertility, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, advanced pelvic reconstruction and women's wellness. They provide care in our brand-new Children's Hospital opened in June 2024 and includes 60 NICU rooms, 16 birthing suites, state-of-the-art operating rooms and access to over 25 Pediatric specialty teams.
Supervising residents in the Perinatal clinic approximately 10% of time each week.
  • Our Department of Psychiatry is comprised of 29 Faculty, 8 Advanced Practice Providers and 6 therapists. We have 35 Adult Psychiatry residents, 6 Child and Adolescent fellows and 3 APP fellows.
Requirements:
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Perinatal Mental Health certification through Postpartum Support International
