Job description

Duties Independently, or as a team member, conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Maintains continuous accountability reports ensuring that items are properly marked, recorded, stored, issued, turned-in, and returned to owner or disposed of by authorization of proper authority. Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc. Prepares and serves proper paperwork to appropriate personnel of correctional institutions to ensure confined soldiers are returned military control subsequent to release date. Interviews witnesses, suspects, and victims, and obtains statements containing information concerning the incident. Coordinates with civil and military agencies involving jurisdictional authority, exchange of information, and similar problems and considerations. Analyze data to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspects to trial. Appears as a witness or testifies at trials, hearings, courts martial and other federal judiciary proceedings regarding results of investigations Requirements Conditions of Employment Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This position is subject to a pre-employment physical screening, and random testing thereafter. This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License. Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date. Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW 190-56. This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and maintain a level of fitness to physically perform the position. Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 and successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. Must Pass annual physical agility test requirements. Must be/be able to be certified to use police weapons, equipment, cameras, crime scene evidence collecting equipment, and automated police information retrieval systems. Must be able to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other associated equipment. Must be qualified and certified or able to be, in the use of all assigned weapons and police related equipment which may include chemical aerosol irritants and LESD. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain state certification, if required, for radar and breathalyzer operations. Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
