Overview:

WiredPeople invites applicants to join our growing team as a Public Health Program Specialist. This is a second-level professional position responsible for planning, promoting, implementing, or evaluating a public health program, service, or grant; or implementing environmentally influenced public health laws and regulations.

At this level, employees provide assistance and guidance to partners, contractors, and agencies involved in program implementation; and perform day-to-day program activities including conducting inspections and surveys, assisting in budget development, and participating in or leading public health events. Remote allowed Jefferson City and vicinity preferred for in-person work with considerations for remote work after established with the program.

Responsibilities:

  • This is a highly responsible position requiring the contracted employee to work with a broad range of partners and stakeholders with varying levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • The contracted employee must have strong communication skills.
  • The contracted employee must also be willing to work as a team with staff and other program managers.
  • Proficiency in commonly used office computer programs is also required.
  • The contracted employee should have experience developing training materials, including PowerPoints, handouts, and quizzes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of individual and community health problems related to public health programs.
  • Ability to work with considerable independence performing a wide range of duties to support the program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
  • The contracted employee must be able to accomplish program goals.
  • The contracted employee will work with Statewide CHW Advisory Committee.
  • Seek growth and development opportunities and decide on special projects to pursue.
  • Research, draft and submit grant deliverables and their associated measures.
  • Assure timely preparation of federal reports, program updates, contracts and/or amendments to procure program services.
  • Monitor contracts to assure deliverables are met.
  • Background knowledge of chronic disease and recommended preventative care preferred.
  • Experience working with community partners and coalitions preferred.
  • Experience developing and strengthening internal and external partnerships.
