Job description

Overview Maintenance Trades Helper: Bowhead seeks a Maintenance Trades Helper to support a newly awarded contract at Whiteman AFB providing highly reliable wired telecommunications and networked voice, video and data services. The Maintenance Trade Helper shall perform Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and other services required to ensure the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Responsibilities Job duties include but are not limited to: Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly building systems operate efficiently; or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate Inspect; operate; or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them checking blueprints; repair manuals; or parts catalogs; as necessary Assemble;,install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions following checklists Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools; and reassemble equipment Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work Follow all company, DoD, and industry safety standards while performing all duties on site Follow all company Quality SOP's while performing all duties on site Providing customer support and education; working with users to identify needs, determine sources of problems, or to provide information on product use Qualifications Basic practical knowledge of several maintenance trades in order to perform most of the following: building; electrical and plumbing maintenance. Must be able to use tools ranging from common hand and power tools; such as hammers; hoists; saws; drills; and wrenches; to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Frequent schedule and priority changes are common for this position. Examples of duties for this position. Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically working on ladders, in confined spaces, and use of a respirator SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
