Job description
The Mattie Rhodes Center provides a holistic approach to individual and family well-being through social services, mental health counseling and the arts. Our staff provides culturally competent programming in the following four areas:
Family Services (behavioral health, family violence, substance abuse)
Youth Services (in-school intervention, youth development, supportive living)
Community Support (health and wellness, community engagement)
Cultural Arts (arts education, exhibits and collections)
Mattie Rhodes is the only fully bilingual/bicultural state-certified behavioral health care provider in the Greater Kansas City region, and is state-certified in intensive outpatient substance abuse therapy.
Mattie Rhodes is nationally accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and has been serving the community for over 100 years.
Job Summary:
This position's primary duties include being part of a care team within the school setting. The staff will receive referrals generated through the school's family liaison. The clinician will provide a formal assessment to Tier 3 students, using The Child and Adolescent Assessment Scale (CAFAS) that measures a youth's day-to-day functioning and impairment in areas such as behavior, emotional and substance use. The services delivered at school will focus on diminishing or eliminating symptoms of anxiety, depression or conduct concerns and helping students to manage their response to recent trauma. Evidenced modalities will be used, including the required agency and Systems of Care (SOC) information documentation system. The therapist is responsible for completing required agency documentation and required direct service hours. In addition, this position is responsible for participating in program development and evaluation. This position will also contribute to the implementation of the agency's strategic initiatives. From time-to-time the incumbent may be required to use a personal vehicle while conducting Agency business. This position is an hourly non-exempt position and flexibility in the work schedule is required.
Salary Negotiable based on Experience.
Those eligible for licensure may qualify for a stipend to assist in paying for supervision.
Responsibilities:
75%
Serves as counselor/clinical social worker for assigned individuals and families, groups addressing mental health needs of children, youth, and adults.
Completes initial assessment, develops treatment plans and periodically evaluates client's progress and maintains documentation according to agency's policies and procedures and requirements.
Facilitates educational and treatment group for clients enrolled in services.
Works to ensure positive communication and dialogue with identified school staff members
Collaborates with school personnel and existing resources within the school to reduce student risk factors due to risky student behaviors
Assists in the development and implementation of new programming as needed.
Implements outcomes measurements tools.
Duties may be performed off office premises.

• Participates in agency meetings and provides input to the management team about programs (i.e., evaluation, implementation, etc.).

• Conducts outreach to the community. • Advocates for clients and the community. • Represents the Mattie Rhodes Center at various community meetings as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Master Social Work or Counseling degree or LCSW OR LPC eligibility.
Counseling skills to include strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate in Spanish and English as well as have an in-depth understanding of the Latino culture and cross-cultural competence.
Ability to communicate with clinical supervisor, counselors and other professionals and to observe professional boundaries both with clients and other professionals.
Reliable personal transportation
Preferred:
Two years counseling experience.
Experience facilitating various therapeutic groups.
