CDD is a non-profit community-based organization that supports individuals with developmental disABILITIES in their own homes throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area. We have been doing this for over 50 years with the goal of adding 50+ more in our sight. Speaking of goals, CDD offers incentives based on meeting agency-wide goals as well as differentials for homes that are behavioral, high medical needs, and for shifts that occur on Saturday and Sunday.

As a Residential Specialist, you will:
  • Schedule and transport individuals to medical appointments as needed;
  • Visits assigned locations at least twice a week, or more often as needed;
  • Review shift notes in Therap daily in order to be aware of things needing addressed at locations;
  • Ensure all medication changes are clearly documented where needed;
  • Obtains medical treatment for illnesses or injuries in a timely manner;
  • Communicate daily with all staff to provide consistency in addressing each individual's needs verbally and in daily communication logs;
  • Supervise and schedule sufficient staff to maintain required staffing ratios;
  • Document staff attendance and leave time; review electronic timekeeping records for accuracy and approve hours worked
  • Submit staff evaluations in a timely manner;
  • Have on-call responsibility, altering schedule as necessary to meet individual needs;
  • Oversee individual money expenditures and maintain required records;
  • Schedule maintenance and oversee the site implementation of the agency's Physical Facilities and Safety Policy;
  • Facilitate monthly program meeting at each site;
  • Provide companionship, emotional support, crisis intervention and behavioral counseling to individuals;
You would probably be great for this role if you have the following:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's degree in education, rehabilitation, social or behavioral science field preferred;
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience with persons with developmental disabilities;
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass medication, adult CPR and First Aid classes
  • Your own car and car insurance
  • Experience in the developmental disabilities field
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds consistently, 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
In order to make this all the way legit, you give permission for CDD to conduct background screenings as your employment is contingent until results are verified. We want you to know the following will occur:
  • A request for a background check will be conducted which will include criminal history, abuse and neglect and sex offender registry
  • Motor vehicle report check
  • Employment and/or personal reference checks
  • Education verification and license/certification checks (where applicable)
