5 South provides 24 hour acute nursing care to neurosurgery, medical and ortho-spine patients who are acutely ill, injured, or have pre-existing disease process who are in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric stages of life. 5 South contains 19 beds (5 private, 5 semiprivate, and a 4 bed Neuro-Observation Room (NOR . The purpose of the NOR is to provide frequent assessment, interventions, and evaluations of patients who are hemodynamically stable, however, require closer observation

Minimum Education: RN licensure in the State of Missouri

Job Specifications:

  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience desired.
  • Satisfactory performance appraisals.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in working relationships and during delivery of care.
  • Possesses good problem solving abilities including follow up and reporting.
  • Remains calm and is able to handle highly stressful situations.
  • Possesses excellent organizational skills.
  • Is available for variable shifts.
  • Energetic and motivated.


Job Summary:

Provides leadership and coordination of unit staffing while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
  • Assigns, directs, educates and monitors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Contributes to or performs performance evaluations of staff.
  • Assesses daily patient care needs and develops and distributes patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given.
  • Collaborates with advanced practice providers to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
  • Responds to complaints about patient care and manages through established channels.
  • May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing and evaluating staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
EXPERIENCE
  • One year of registered nurse experience
