Manufacturing Engineer Manager Weir Minerals St. Louis, MO Purpose of Role: The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for leadership of manufacturing engineering at the section and operations level to improve productivity, production output, product quality, component cost, and manufacturing systems throughout the assembly, paint, fabrication, and machining areas in accordance with company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities: Technical and Process Oversight: Oversee and provide technical support for machining and fabrication processes, including CAM and CAE activities, time standards, and cutting tool solutions. Safety and Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety policies, and maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Operational Support and Improvement: Work with Assembly Team Leads and Lean Enterprise Manager to support assembly, paint processes, and continuous improvement initiatives, including setup reduction and KPI achievement. System Implementation and Integration: Oversee the implementation of Team Center and SAP systems, assisting in the transfer of new products from engineering to production. Team Development and Performance: Develop and train staff on CNC procedures, provide feedback, and ensure high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency, while also managing personnel scheduling and special projects. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering with five years of relevant experience; managerial experience preferred but not essential. Should have experience in Leading people, CNC Machine tools, Workholding designs (Fixturing) and CNC programming. Understanding of cutting tools, materials (e.g., cast iron, steel), and tooling geometry; capability to calculate speeds and feeds. Ability to operate standard business machines, software (Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes), and CAD/CAM/CNC software (Mastercam, Solidworks); experience with various measuring and inspection equipment. Familiarity with Lean principles is a plus; adept at using scientific calculators for geometric and trigonometric functions.
