Position Summary:

The Safety Supervisor will oversee the development and implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulations while maintaining accurate safety logs. This role also includes managing safety operations, supporting the safety committee and leadership, and conducting inspections and audits.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and maintain accurate safety logs.
  • Collaborate with management to prepare and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the safety committee and leadership team.
  • Stop operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conduct employee training on applicable safety standards and review safety training programs, recommending updates as needed.
  • Monitor staff completion of safety training through the Learning Management System.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to assess compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee and assess staff vehicle driving performance to ensure adherence to company vehicle policies and safe driving standards, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Review accident and incident reports, collaborate with the HR department to advise on corrective actions, and monitor the implementation of these actions
  • Conduct quarterly D.O.T. compliance audits and monthly spot checks to ensure that we're meeting regulation requirements
  • Lead the Safety Committee and ensure each Operations department complies with industry-specific safety requirements.
  • Direct and process insurance-related tasks.
  • Maintain client-required safety databases and/or systems.
  • Monitor staff vehicle driving performance to ensure compliance with company vehicle policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to conduct training sessions effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.

Education and Experience:

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Or an associate's degree in a relevant field may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive management experience in safety roles, with a proven track record of developing and leading safety programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting risk assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a culture of safety in various organizational settings.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to travel to various job sites for conducting safety inspections.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and on different terrains, including hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy environments.
  • Potential exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces, and loud noises.
  • Adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in compliance with company standards and governmental regulations is mandatory.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires occasional travel.
  • Lodging and transportation will be provided while traveling and working for the company.
