My client is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design and develop custom automation systems for the medical and life sciences sectors. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of hands-on experience in controls engineering, proficiently managing projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

- Design automation systems from the ground up, including:
- Translating customer requirements into design specifications.
- Evaluating design feasibility and providing technical expertise.
- Develop and design electrical systems for custom automation solutions, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability.
- Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, robotics, safety systems, vision systems, and other control devices for precise automation control.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases of projects.
- Source and program motors, drives, actuators, sensors, and servo controls.
- Execute full system programming, testing, debugging, commissioning, and installation.
- Create and review electrical schematics and panel layouts, including detailed bills of materials.
- Manage project schedules, alert purchasing of long-lead items, and maintain design accuracy.
- Identify potential high-risk areas during the initial project quoting process.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Stay updated with cutting-edge technology and assist with sales calls.
Profile
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, programming, and implementing control systems for custom automation projects.
- Proven collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and software developers.
- Strong understanding of custom automation requirements and the ability to tailor solutions.
- Excellent documentation skills for control system architecture, wiring schematics, and user manuals.
- Proficient in programming PLCs, HMIs, and other control devices.
- Experience with robotics, automation systems, vision systems, and sensors.
- Competence in PC networking, device communications, and integration.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and electrical component selection.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
- Excellent project management and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Expertise in control software, particularly Allen Bradley, is essential.
- Self-driven, responsible, and capable of working independently.
