Summary Reporting to the Disease Area Strategy Team (DAST) Lead for GYN Cancer, this position is integral to R&D and partners with the DAST Lead to build and execute a disease area strategy across the ADC portfolio plus emerging pipeline assets to advance our research and development. This role will lead workstreams with highly matrixed cross-functional and cross-regional teams. Stakeholders include many functions within R&D and Commercial, and Medical Affairs. Responsibilities will be both process/capability development for a relatively new functional group and high-complexity disease work to support critical strategic choices for the clinical program. The DAST Director will collaborate with the DAST Lead and core DAST membership to build out disease-focused resources and capabilities. The individual will be a key contributor to a unified Disease Area Strategy across the Oncology Portfolio and organization, support effective communication and collaboration between DAST members and other functional stakeholders & subject matter experts, and support process/capability development to enable the effective integration of DAST into the fabric of Daiichi Sankyo.

Responsibilities

- Facilitate pull-through of the disease area strategy through collaboration with clinical development team (ADC portfolio plus emerging pipeline assets) and key functions.
- Contribute to data generation proposals and decision-making that optimizes Daiichi Sankyo's presence in GYN Cancer based on customer insights, external landscape, and internal information including overall product development plans.
- Proactive planning for asset milestones to account for disease perspective, anticipated external reaction, and cross-asset impact.
- Lead working group on GYN cancer competitive strategy by assessing competitive impact to the disease strategy and the strategic choices for clinical development and data generation
- Develop and define DAST best practices, including the development and use of qualitative and quantitative methods to provide disease perspective for clinical development planning, while working in collaboration with the Global Project Teams, Portfolio Prioritization Team, Business Development, Translational Medicine, and other related functions.
- Support initiatives that advance DAST capabilities and/or install disease strategy priorities throughout the organization.
- Set annual/quarterly goals and KPIs, effectively manage department budget and resource allocation, proactively identify needs for process capability development/improvements, lead process capability development/improvements, and identify organizational needs to ensure DAST success
- Actively contributes to progressing the Global TA Strategy department as strategic influencer and other functional initiative.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

- Bachelor's Degree with relevant years of experiences required and
- Advanced degree (Master, MBA or PhD) with additional relevant experience (preferred) preferred Experience Qualifications

- Proven track record in a highly matrixed team with strong interpersonal skills to influence cross-functional and cross-regional senior leaders with collaborative mindset required
- Prior experience in project management or leading change management initiatives preferred
- Prior experience in clinical development, Medical Affairs, or Global Marketing preferred
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing strategies for global drug development, commercialization, and life cycle management preferred
- Strong expert network and can consult key external disease experts (KEE) preferred TravelAbility to travel up to 10% domestic and/or international travel
