The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of the application of CADD to solve challenges that may include visualization of structure-activity relationships (SAR), ADMET predictions, off-target selectivity, and physiochemical properties. The ideal candidate will also be willing to engage with cross-functional teams seeking to expand and advance Insmed's discovery pipeline. We are a pioneering company working on novel targets to generate first in class therapeutics impactful in rare diseases.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • CADD Application to enable project progression: Utilize computational chemistry tools and techniques (such as molecular docking, molecular dynamics, virtual screening, QSAR, and free energy predictions FEP) to support the design and optimization of Insmed's small molecules pipeline from hit ID through to candidate nomination.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret large datasets from molecular modelling, virtual screening, fragment screening, and protein-ligand interaction studies to provide actionable insights for drug development programs.
  • Collaborative Research: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising Medicinal Chemists, Structural Biologists, Data Scientists, and external collaborators to integrate computational findings into drug discovery projects.
  • Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in CADD, protein structure modelling, and artificial intelligence in the context of drug design and discovery.
  • Platform Development: Collaborate with internal teams to build a responsive, data-driven computational platform that incorporates the latest computational, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cheminformatics technologies.
Qualifications:
  • PhD with 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or MS with equivalent qualification and experience combination is required.
  • Experience using computational chemistry and cheminformatics toolkits (such as Schrödinger, MOE, Gaussian, or other industry-standard software) to solve challenges related to small molecule drug design and discovery including similarity searching, matched pair analysis, clustering, QSAR modelling, visualization of structure-activity relationships, virtual library enumeration, and fragment screening.
  • Strong coding skills in Python or other scripting language, experience in using KNIME or Pipeline Pilot, and familiarity with common data science packages.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative environment with teams from Chemistry, Data Science, and Structural Biology; an ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external partners.
