The Position

The Director, National Commercial Execution, Educator Execution is responsible for leading the planning and execution of Therapy Area (TA) education strategies and company initiatives across the Educator teams in the Cardiometabolic Sales Areas. Coordinates and integrates TA education strategies and priorities across the portfolio to support market development. Operates as the lead for Educator execution in a matrix organization and drives collaboration and alignment amongst key stakeholders. Responsible for overall Educator efficiency and effectiveness and oversees the execution of therapy area business plans. Identifies opportunities to increase collaboration across the sales teams, applying an Educator lens to business trends and sales metrics and provides regular updates and insights to sales leadership. Drives Educator execution aligned with national priorities set by the SVP, Cardiometabolic Sales and the Sales Leadership Team. Engages with Area Commercial Execution teams to set annual execution goals and strategic actions for Educator teams. Partners with home office functions, including Commercial Strategy and Marketing, Medical Affairs, and MAPA to deploy national and local market strategies across Educator teams. Responsible for planning and setting execution direction for Educators as part of product launch preparations. Drives launch readiness across all Educators across the nation.

Relationship

The position reports to the VP, National Commercial Execution and Operations. Serves as a critical partner in executing and monitoring the national TA business plans, including new product launches. Partners with Customer Engagement Leads in Commercial Strategy and Marketing on the execution of strategies and TA initiatives with the Sales teams. Collaborates with Commercial Insights and Analytics to monitor Area and national progress towards strategic objectives. Participates in cross-functional TA launch teams and leads execution and launch planning across Cardiometabolic Sales as it relates to Educators. Works closely with Area Commercial Execution leads to ensure execution alignment across Area Educator teams. Engages with Employee Experience to develop and roll out Educator focused learning and development programs.

Essential Functions

  • Educator Execution
  • Leads therapy area (TA) execution including close collaboration with TA team, providing direction to and facilitating collaboration amongst key stakeholders
  • Responsible for awareness and understanding of what resources (included resources, processes, tools or technology) are available for the Educator team to support key business initiatives and priorities
  • Analyzes the market trends and competitive environment and engages in internal stakeholder conversations to identify root causes related to execution/performance and provides appropriate direction in deploying field resources in a compliant manner
  • Ensures effective Educator execution with the strategic and tactical elements of the national TA business plans
  • Represents the Educator team in the development of the company's strategic and marketing plans
  • Ensures the execution of home office initiatives in support of field processes and technology
  • Uncovers local market opportunities, and partners with marketing and internal stakeholders to coordinate and ensure appropriate execution
  • Partners with the Employee Experience team to ensure that Educators and Educator Managers have all necessary training to deliver high quality educational interactions with customers
  • Coordinates the development and delivery of Educator focused learning experiences during POA meetings or other training forums
  • Leads the development of national Strategic Actions based on TA priorities; collaborates with Area Commercial Execution teams to calibrate educator performance across Area teams
  • Launch Execution
  • Works closely with TA marketing to execute on US launch plans, defines and drives NNI Educator readiness, sets direction, goals, priorities and deliverables across areas in collaboration with CS&M
  • Develops innovative business solutions and opportunities in collaboration with the TA team specific to Educators
  • Supervises NNI launch field readiness and field performance tracking process with cross-functional team
  • Represents Education team in NNI pre-launch/launch business planning (pre-launch guidance, KPIs, activities as well as challenge and approval process), including contributions to planning and organizing of training and events for NNI Launch Project team members as necessary
  • Communication
  • Responsible for ensuring national Education communications are clear to drive understanding and local execution
  • Field Intelligence
  • Ensures VP, NCE&O is up-to-date on Educator team performance, and identifies issues and makes actionable recommendations
  • Filters field requests and champions initiatives to Customer Engagement Leads for requests aligned to national strategies in support of local markets Delivers insights to internal stakeholders to inform TA strategies and tactics
  • Collaborates with CS&M & Commercial Insights and Analytics to provide field input into execution of the strategy

Physical Requirements

20-30% overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree, and/or Pharm D required. Advanced degree, such as MBA, preferred
  • 10+ years of sales, sales management or sales/marketing support experience in pharmaceuticals and/or related healthcare
  • People leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and collaborate effectively cross-functionally is required
  • High level of analytics and insight generation required
  • A strong understanding of pharmaceutical and market dynamics required
  • Prior experience operationalizing a strategy is preferred
  • Prior experience with portfolio selling approaches
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical sales data sources
  • Ability to operationalize marketing tools and resources to drive business results
  • Strong collaborator, comfortable achieving results through cross-functional team
  • Exceptional communication skills in written and oral formats
  • Prior experience within Educator and/or Educator Manager role valued
