Responsibilities:
This position will provide technical and administrative support for the PPPL engineering calibration program as well as provide daily onsite coverage for the Electrical/Mechanical Calibration Laboratory.

Core Duties Include:

Measurement and Test Equipment (MTE) Calibration Coordination (70%):

Coordinate the calibration of MTE with equipment custodians and issue recall notices for expiring or suspect equipment.
Maintain the calibration database, ensuring date of calibration, location and owner/custodian of equipment is accurately documented.
Assign calibration intervals based upon manufacturer, industry standard, and PPPL quality program guidance.
Assign unique and traceable identification to MTE when not already assigned a capital inventory tag.
Assess reliability of MTE based upon historical calibration data and phase out failing equipment through reducing the calibration interval or per PPPL quality program guidance.
Review vendor calibration data and certificates for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
Initiate non-conformance reports (NCR) to document failed, adjusted, or repaired calibration results.

Will be expected to be assigned the role of Princeton Technical Representative (PTR) for subcontracts related to externally performed MTE calibrations.

General Technical Shop Duties (30%)

Coordinate troubleshooting, and repair electronics equipment and fiber optics.
Coordinate fabrication of electronic equipment including assembly of printed circuit boards, fabrication and assembly of chassis, and field wiring of chassis, racks, and equipment.
Assist with equipment and component selection and sourcing.
Enter and track requisitions for electronic and mechanical supplies or services.
Review, revise, and create administrative and general technical procedures.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

High School diploma is required.

An Associate's degree from an accredited college focusing on a technical related discipline is preferred; equivalent technical certification such as vocational training or military duty in a related field of study is also acceptable in lieu of an Associate's degree

Minimum technical experience required: 10 years with no degree; 8 years with associate's degree/technical certificate; 5 years with bachelor's degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work with a diverse array of individuals, from maintenance crews to researchers and collaborators is required.

Experience working within a managed quality program such as ISO 9001 is highly desirable.

Awareness of MTE calibration standards such as ANSI Z540.1, ANS/ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006, or MIL-STD 45662A is beneficial.

Detail oriented and proficient at use of computer software for data logging and word processing.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and/or electronic schematics, drawings, and sketches.

General mechanical knowledge and skill with hand tools for assembly and disassembly of chassis and components.

Physical Requirements:

Full or fully corrected vision, correct depth and color perception, occasional close work, work in low light conditions.

Will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50pounds.

Full hand, arm and leg mechanical dexterity and coordination.

Position will require working near status magnetic fields thus must have no medical restrictions working in an environment like this

Capable of climbing ladders, continuous walking, standing or sitting.

Will work in environments with normal industrial hazards such as confined spaces, elevations, and where electrically/mechanically energized equipment may be present.

Routinely wear protective clothing and equipment, primarily hardhats, safety glasses, and electrical PPE.

Working Conditions:

Most work will be done at the PPPL shops and laboratories, though vendor visits may be required when supporting ongoing projects.

Work will generally be 1st shift. There might be occassional off hours work.
