Job description

Duties As an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK), GS-2210-11/12, you will be expected to accomplish the following: Prepare for, maintains currency for, and executes an advanced role in Cyberspace Operations. Prepare Regular Scheduled Drill, Annual Training and currency training events for Mission Ready Cyberspace Operators to optimize training time available. Represent the unit's capability, availability, and interests at high-level Operational Planning Team (OPT) meetings to define the mission, environment, enemy, effects, capabilities, overall plan, phasing, operational agreements and contingencies needed to conduct the operation or exercise. Conduct extensive research of new vulnerabilities and insecurities discovered in operating systems, application software, infrastructure and boundary protection devices. Conduct testing on training range to validate findings and to develop and refine methods and procedures to mitigate vulnerabilities. Recommend and refine tools for use on Cyberspace Weapon System to provide the customer with the best possible evaluation of their security posture. Coordinate research and findings with the Cyberspace Mission Training Officer to develop tactical objectives and/or tactical tasking for a team of Cyberspace Operators. Conducts extensive research of tools currently being used to attack or gain unauthorized access to information networks. Performs other duties as assigned. NOTE: Developmental position; Knowledge, experience and skill are being acquired for promotion to the full operating level (GS-2210-12) Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Requirements: Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a military unit compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. Military Grades: SrA/E-4 to MSgt/E-7 Security Clearance Must have a Top-Secret Clearance prior to application or be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within one year. If cross training into the 1B4 career field, provide ASVAB score and Electronics section must show a score of => 70 and must be taken within the last 24 months. ASVAB scores must be current within the last 24 months otherwise it must be retaken regardless of scores. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all qualification and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance and meeting all cyber work roles and DoD 8570/8140 requirements. This position is a developmental position to the GS-12 based on a Individual Developmental Plan (IDP) if selected for the GS-11. To qualify for the position of IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC/NETWORK), (GS-2210-11/12), you must meet the general requirements AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to. General Experience: Must have experience with the following: General management principles Basic knowledge of data processing functions Program analyst or other positions that required the use of computer programs Techniques and requirements appropriate to assigned computer applications Planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment Guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment Preparing documentation on cost and benefit studies Specialized Experience: GS-11 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the federal service). 1B4 AFSC with a 1, 3, or 5-level and specialized experience includes: Prepare for, maintains currency for, and executes an advanced role in Cyberspace Operations. Prepare Regular Scheduled Drill, Annual Training and currency training events for Mission Ready Cyberspace Operators to optimize training time available. Conducts analyses of network usage, hardware and software capabilities, ineffective practices or procedures, equipment shortcomings, and other relevant factors. Able to enumerate, analyze, gain access, and exploit enterprise networks to highlight vulnerabilities and assess effectiveness of hardening actions. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: There are no education requirements for this vacancy announcement.
