Job description

• Only qualified Senior Technical Writer candidates located near the Trenton, NJ area to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence

The Senior Technical Writer is a highly skilled professional responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation that communicates complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that product documentation, user guides, and manuals are clear, accurate, and accessible to users, helping them effectively use and understand the technology or products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical writing, English, computer science, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in technical writing, including experience in a senior or lead role

  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and grammar

  • Proficiency in using technical writing tools and software

  • Experience writing technical documentation for cloud based software, such as Salesforce, AWS & Snowflake

  • Familiarity with documentation best practices, standards, and style guides

  • Knowledge of content management systems and version control systems

  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus

  • Familiarity with the subject matter or technology being documented is beneficial

  • Experience with API documentation - 7 Years

  • Experience with documentation strategy development - 9 Years

  • Experience with documentation tools and version control systems - 10 Years

  • Experience in usability testing - 8 Years

  • Experience ensuring compliance with industry standards - 10 Years

  • Experience in translation and localization coordination - 5 Years

  • Experience in training and collaboration with other teams - 10 Years

  • Experience in collecting and analyzing user feedback - 10 Years

  • Experience writing technical documentation for cloud based software, such as Salesforce, AWS, and Snowflake - 8 Years

    Senior Technical Writer Responsibilities:

    -Documentation Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a documentation strategy that aligns with the organization's product development and release cycles

  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and subject matter experts to understand documentation needs

    -Content Creation:

  • Write, edit, and format technical documentation, including user manuals, online help, release notes, API documentation, and knowledge base articles

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content

    -Audience Analysis:

  • Identify and understand the target audience(s) for each document or piece of content

  • Tailor documentation to suit the knowledge level and needs of different user groups

    - Documentation Tools:

  • Proficiently use documentation tools and software as provided

  • Maintain version control for documentation

    - Visual Elements:

  • Create or collaborate with graphic designers to include visual elements like diagrams, screenshots, and illustrations to enhance comprehension

  • Ensure consistency in visual elements and formatting

    - Usability Testing:

  • Conduct usability testing of documentation with end users to gather feedback and make improvements

  • Iterate and update documentation based on user feedback and changing product features

    - Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure that documentation complies with industry standards, regulations, and best practices

  • Maintain documentation quality and consistency across all materials

    - Translation and Localization:

  • Coordinate translation and localization efforts for documentation as needed for global audiences

  • Ensure that translated content maintains the same level of accuracy and clarity

    - Training and Collaboration:

  • Provide training to end users and collaborate with other teams, including support, product management, and development, to gather information and feedback

    - Documentation Updates:

  • Keep documentation up-to-date with product changes, enhancements, and new features

  • Communicate updates to users through release notes and other channels

    - User Feedback and Support:

  • Collect and analyze user feedback to identify areas for improvement in documentation

  • Provide support and guidance to users seeking help through documentation
