Bus Driver Requisition ID req30353 Working Title Bus Driver Position Grade 09 Position Summary UNM Parking and Transportation Services (PATS) has multiple openings for full-time Bus Drivers. Successful candidates will be part of a 35-member team that transports 1.7 million students, faculty, staff and visitors to and from the University annually. As one of the first University employees encountered by many guests and visitors, our bus drivers play an important role in the University's community outreach efforts and public relations. This position requires overtime and occasional weekend hours. Coverage hours for UNM Shuttle Services are 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday-Friday with additional special events coverage in the evenings and on the weekends. Candidate must be available to work a shift (approximately) from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. See the Position Description for additional information. Conditions of Employment Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement is a requirement for this job. As a CDL driver, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of DOT Regulation 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including random drug and alcohol testing. All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications At least 6 months of experience operating large passenger buses (40 foot or greater). Experience working in a scheduled transportation system. Experience driving a large passenger bus within the last five years. Experience working in a scheduled transportation system. Experience performing routine pre-trip and post trip vehicle inspections and maintenance, including checking the oil, fuel, brakes, lights, windshield wipers, and water and tire pressures. Maintains records of work performed; makes timely reports of accidents, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
