Job description

Participate in water/wastewater design and construction projects in support of assigned capital improvement projects, private development, pretreatment program, and day-to-day operations and maintenance of water distribution/treatment, wastewater collection/treatment, water/wastewater compliance & enforcement or assigned facilities, under the direction of a Professional Engineer.


You will have the unique opportunity to coordinate and assist with management of a variety of engineering projects, including input, review, and completion of engineering plans, specifications and drawings. You will also be exposed to a broad range of unique construction processes associated with installation of new water/wastewater infrastructure as well as rehabilitation of existing water/wastewater infrastructure (pipes, pumps, reservoirs, structures, unit processes, etc.). You will assist with interagency coordination on projects, assuring accuracy and compliance with applicable Water Authority standards and specifications, and contribute to the Water Authority's ongoing compliance with the Clean Water Act. Depending on your assigned Division, you may also end up assisting with collection of commercial, industrial, and raw wastewater quality samples, and assist with research on pollutants of concern, development of Best Management Practices, guidance, policy, and fact sheet documents and enforcement strategies. Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related field.

Experience such as described in the job description may substitute for education on a year for year basis.


Salary starts at $27.32 and goes up as indicated below


- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and Engineer Intern (EI) Certificate - $30.59

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineer Intern (EI) Certificate and 2 years of experience or Master's Degree with major in Civil Engineering or related field - $33.86



Position Requirements


Possess a Valid New Mexico Driver's License or a Valid Driver's License from another State converted to New Mexico within 1 month

Driving Record consistent with being issued an Authority Operator Permit by Risk Management

Annual Audiogram is required if assigned to Plant Groundwater


Preferred

Professional Engineering experience
