Requisition IDreq30824 Working TitleNight Shift Safety Assistant Pay$13.00 Hourly CampusMain - Albuquerque, NM DepartmentRLSH Ancillary Svcs - Safety (215H0) Employment TypeStudent Employment Student TypeStudent Employment StatusNon-Exempt Background Check RequiredYes For Best Consideration Date9/17/2024 Position Summary Under the directions of the Assistant Director of Residence Life and Student Housing and the direct supervision of the Area Coordinator and a Student Safety Supervisor, this position plays an integral role in the quality of the on-campus experience within the University residence halls. UNM Residence Life and Student Housing endeavors to foster inclusive, community-based living environments consciously designed for our residents' personal growth and academic success in well-maintained facilities. This position contributes to the department's mission by providing excellent customer service and campus support through 24/7 safety services. The location of this position will alternate between UNM Main Campus (SRC) and Lobo Rainforest. Duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide quality customer service to on-campus residents and residence life and student housing staff by performing duties and responsibilities that foster safety and security in the on-campus residence halls; provide an engaged security presence in and around the on-campus residence halls and related areas. Patrols residence halls and surrounding areas, secure buildings, identifies intruders or suspicious individuals, reports incidents requiring attention from Resident Education staff and/or University Police, checks emergency call box systems, utilizes radio to communicate with the SRC 24-hour front desk and University Police. Documents incidents and information in daily shift reports, including shift events, actions, pending tasks, messages, and so on. Answer phones and address day-to-day questions, concerns, or issues. Input resident work orders into the department facility service database, distribute, log, and track keys issued to residents when locked out of their living spaces. Communicates with department staff, including the Student Safety Supervisor, regarding safety operations; reads and follows up on previous shift reports at the beginning of each shift and follows directives as appropriate. Responds to resident emergencies by quickly contacting appropriate emergency services and designated on-call department staff and by coordinating police response and access, per established procedures and processes. Provide escorts and support to department staff, vendors, contractors, or other designated visitors. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications/Mandatory requirements of this position include: Must be able to work 15-20 hours on shifts scheduled between 8:00 PM-8:00 AM as this position is for night shifts ONLY. Attend all scheduled staff meetings and seminars; staff will be paid for attending required meetings. Be available to begin work prior to the start of the semester and continue work after the end of the semester. Be available to work half of each University holiday period, such as Winter Break, Fall Break, Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and so on. Be available to work approximately every other weekend. May not work over 28 hours per week when classes are in session or over 28 hours per week when classes are not in session.
