The Payroll Manager will report to the Controller and be responsible for managing the full payroll process, including weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls for union, non-union, and part-time employees. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while utilizing Paylocity and Kronos systems.

Description

  • Oversee payroll processing for union, non-union, and part-time employees, ensuring timely and accurate weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payrolls.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 5 payroll professionals, providing guidance, support, and professional development.
  • Maintain and manage the payroll system (Paylocity) and timekeeping systems (Kronos) to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports related to payroll, including payroll audits and reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with collective bargaining agreements for union employees.
  • Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations, and implement necessary updates.
  • Support implementation of new HRIS/Payroll system
  • Support year-end payroll processing, including W-2 generation and tax reporting.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a higher education or multi-union environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Paylocity and Kronos, or similar HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Solid understanding of federal and state payroll regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
