Responsibilities:
The Director Grants Accounting will provide overall strategic direction of the department and strategic alignment of goals within the Bassett Healthcare Network. Lead pre-award and post award administrative functions designed to meet the needs of Bassett entities and key divisions in the pursuit, implementation, management and measurement of grant and sponsored programs. Develop and sustain an integrative working relationship between the department and key Bassett leaders to optimize opportunity for success in achieving goals and outcomes of the department. Ensure proper stewardship of sponsor funding and ensure accurate financial compliance reporting of activities to key stakeholders. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, sponsor terms and institutional policies through collaboration and partnership with Bassett entities and leaders. Maintain a program of professional development and team development to assure appropriate monitoring of funding trends and compliance requirements; maintain a systematic approach to overall performance improvement of the department.
Collaborate with key liaisons and administrative leaders to systematically approach the roles and functions of the department and to assure appropriate communication flow.
Collaborate and assist Bassett departments in efforts to identify and prioritize funding opportunities to enhance their services and goals; Routinely interact with and involve key administrative leaders in prioritizing, planning and evaluating projects/programs.
Direct exposure to public (Federal, State, local, Tribal) and/or private grants.
Knowledge of grant-making approaches and processes of private foundations, and ability to monitor and apply federal regulations.
Thorough understanding of Uniform Guidance - 2 CFR 200, including Single Audit requirements, and its application to different types of financial assistance.
Excellent organization, financial management, project management, problem-solving and workflow/process skills.
Establish and maintain ongoing training and development required for sustainable effectiveness in achieving grant and sponsored program goals and responsibilities and to assure compliance to regulatory and institutional policy.
Direct department operations; Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures essential to the purpose and goals.
Maintain appropriate review, monitoring, and audit processes for all phases of grants and sponsored program development.
Prepare and provides reports to leadership, committees and boards as required.
Oversee maintenance and accuracy of data systems and reporting functions.
Establish outcome measurement systems for the effectiveness of the department.
Integrate oversight functions with Bassett entities/departments and work collaboratively with legal and compliance and other internal partners to monitor compliance to regulatory and institutional requirements.
Initiate and maintain external relationships with funding agencies, sponsors and other key stakeholder groups and entities.
Annually develop goals and measurements to advance the overall effectiveness and performance of the department and its staff; Develops and monitors annual budgets.

Qualifications:
Education:
Master's Degree Business Administration or Accounting, preferred
4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting, required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years in sponsored program (or research) administration, regulatory compliance, or other finance/compliance related field, required
Demonstrated success in a leadership role at an institutional or corporate level, required
Experience in health care systems, academic medical centers, or other complex multidimensional institutions, preferred

Physical Requirements:
