We are seeking an experienced Partner for our multi-office, multi-state law firm. Candidate should have 8+ years' experience as a trial lawyer with more than ten (10) verdicts in personal injury and automobile negligence actions, including experience with UM/UIM, PIP, and defending other civil actions. Experience with high-volume litigation client is a plus.
This position requires a high level of motivation, flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage a litigation caseload from inception through trial and appeals. The ideal candidate should have significant trial experience, the ability to manage litigation, including all aspects of discovery and motion practice, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong and professional communication skills, and be friendly and outgoing. The candidate will interact and work on matters across the firm's footprint. Responsibilities include:
Ability to handle assigned a high-volume caseload both independently and with supervision from inception to trial and appeals.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands, etc.
Take depositions, make court appearances, engage in necessary motion practice and expert retention.
Develop strategy internally and with clients and execute all agreed upon strategy timely
Ability to comply and follow workflow specific to individual client needs
Analyze extensive medical records and other documents relevant to each action
Analyze insurance policies and draft insurance coverage opinions
Perform extensive legal research and jury verdict searches
Maintain an excellent relationship with clients, including complying with all client guidelines
Ensure all deadlines are met
Accurately record and maintain billable hours
Mentor junior associates and delegate work as necessary
Required Skills/Qualifications:
8+ years' experience in defense litigation
Trial experience, preferably at least ten (10) jury verdicts
Experience defending personal injury and automobile negligence actions, including UM/UIM, PIP, and other civil actions
Experience in handling high-volume clients
Settling cases through direct negotiations, arbitrations, and mediations
Exceptional writing, research and analytical skills. The ideal candidate must take pride in delivering a high quality product.
Admitted to practice in the State of New York and United States District Court for the District of New York (NY, PA and/or CT admission is a plus)
Additional Federal Court experience is a plus
